Tick Tock

Time goes around in circles for another day
The alarming ring of this indefinite thing
Means it's time to be on my way
This life sure takes a toll
But hey that's rock and roll
And this rock rolls around the sun
At a dizzying pace

And maybe it's just gravity,
but I can't get up and go
I keep thinking if I could move fast enough
Maybe time would just go slow
I try do all that I can
But time waits for no plan
And the more that I learn
The more I learn just how little I really do know

Tick tock and I just want to hold those hands
But they go round and round and round
I'm a bird that would rather fly than land
Cause something's likely to catch me on the ground
My stars are restless in my sky
But then they only want to shine

Skies and cobbled streets and cobbled faces of grey
At the after-lunchtime limbo of the day
The plans that I have made
Made other plans
But at least if I don't know where I'm going
They can't say that I've lost my way

And maybe it's my sanity
But I don't know which way's home
I keep thinking if I could move fast enough
I would have less far to go
The day spins around into night
Time flies, but not as fast as the light
And if I could fly too, I would try to
And at least I wouldn't be so low

Tick tock and I just want to hold those hands
But they go round and round and round
I'm a bird that would rather fly than land
‘Cause something's likely to catch me on the ground
My stars are restless in my sky
But then they only want to shine

And I wonder if I'm flying or I'm falling
As I wander through the darkness all alone
And I wonder if the light that I've been following
Is right here all along
It's just that this little light of mine
Just needs a little time

Tick tock and I just want to hold those hands
But they go round and round and round
I'm a bird that would rather fly than land
‘Cause something's likely to catch me on the ground
My stars are restless in my sky
But then they only want to shine
